I recently got my cat neutered and declawed, about two weeks ago. Since he was at the vet he hasn't been doing much of anything. He's usually very playful and very curious, like any kitten, but recently he has no interest in anything and spends the majority of his time sleeping, waking up long enough to eat. I assumed he would be sore and tired for awhile but I didn't think it would last this long! Anyone have any thoughts? I want my old kitty back!

Hello and welcome to our community,

Would you please tell us when have you got your cat neutered ?

Please note that just like humans when a surgery is performed on a pet, he will have some pain and swellings for a while and it will take some time for him to get well. So please give him at least a week or so to get healed, meanwhile you can give him nourishing food and vitamins (but please note that before giving any kind of vitamins to your pets you should consult with your veterinarian.)

On the other hand there is some risks of infection in almost all surgeries, so if its more than one or two weeks that your cat is neutered and he still has a bad appetite and shows some signs of pain plus lethargy , please take your cat to an experienced vet or a veterinary hospital to get him checked.

Good Luck.

He got neutered on November 5th. So it's been awhile, and he still just late there. No interest in anything, no energy.

So it is about 10 days now, well every surgery is like a shock to every animal so lets be patient.

Please try to touch around the surgery site to see if there is any kind of swelling and also notice if it is warmer than other areas of his body or not. If you do not have enough experience I suggest you to take him to a vet to get him checked for possible infections, plus please try to engage him with some less active games to make him interested (for instance food related games) .

Please update us with his condition.
