I know dogs can't have conscious eating disorders but is it possible for them (specially young dogs in stressful environments) to copy their owner's eating disorder being this disorder bulimia. My dog has seen me to the point that after every meal she runs to the bathroom door to wait for me but lately she has started to throw up a lot I recently took her to the vet to her parasite vaccine and I am taking her again on Monday to have her checked but I was wandering if there's a possibility that she's mimicking my behavior since obviously I can't discussed the topic with the vet.

Hello,

Well I have seen and read so much about dogs imitating their owners' behaviors, but I have not heard something like your case. Although your condition with your dog seems possible to me because there have been so many similar cases and researches in the past like this one :
www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-teenage-mind/201312/can-dogs-feel-our-emotions
So in my opinion the best solution for you would be taking your dog to a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist (CAAB) or a veterinary behaviorist (Dip ACVB) and if you can not find one of these professionals in your area you can also talk to a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT) regarding your dog's issue .(try to find a experienced and certified one since it is not an ordinary case which they always may encounter with).

In addition I believe it would be great if you watch Cesar Milan's learning dvds and read his books about dog training, they would give you an overall view on how to treat your dog in different conditions . Here is his website :

I hope it can help you.

Good Luck
